We were honored to participate in the Africa Forward high-level roundtable in Nairobi hosted by the ATLAS - Agricultural Transitions Lab for African Solutions , the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), and OCP Group and partners, focused on the role of agribusiness in advancing African agriculture. Represented by our Chief Operations Officer Kennedy Comba
One of the conversations that strongly resonated with us was the discussion around nutritious school meals and building local solutions for Africa’s children.
A key takeaway for us was the work being championed by The Rockefeller Foundation Foundation around regenerative school meals and nutrition-focused food systems for Africa’s children. The conversation reinforced the importance of building locally driven solutions that connect agribusiness, nutrition, education, and community development.
At TAC, we see strong alignment with this thinking through our enterprises:
Through , we are introducing hands-on aquaculture learning in schools by supporting fish ponds and practical training opportunities for learners. This helps build practical skills, increase awareness around aquaculture and encourage the consumption of fish as a nutritious and affordable source of protein among young people.
At the same time, continues to advance hygienic harvesting and processing of Lake Victoria sardines (omena), improving access to locally available, nutrient-rich fish products that can contribute meaningfully to school feeding and community nutrition programs.
The discussions reinforced an important reality:
school feeding programs are not only social interventions, they are also powerful drivers of local agribusiness growth, nutrition security, youth empowerment and resilient African food systems.
We appreciate the opportunity to engage with ecosystem leaders and partners shaping the future of African agriculture and nutrition across the continent.
